Kim Namjoon, known professionally as RM, was born on September 12, 1994, in Ilsan, South Korea. His initial stage name, Rap Monster, reflected his early rapping style, but it was later changed to RM, short for "Real Me."
From Underground Superstar to Global Icon
RM's journey began in the underground hip-hop scene, where he gained recognition for his lyrical prowess. In 2013, he joined the newly formed boy band BTS as its leader and primary songwriter. Since then, BTS has become a global phenomenon, breaking sales records and winning numerous awards.
