Host Stadium For Iran Vs Kyrgyzstan Football Match Changed Again

Host Stadium for Iran vs Kyrgyzstan Football Match Changed Again

Tehran’s Azadi Stadium No Longer Hosting Match Due to Pitch Conditions

Enghelab Stadium to Host Match Instead

The Football Federation of the Islamic Republic of Iran (FFIRI) has announced that the host stadium for the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2022 qualifier between Iran and Kyrgyzstan has been changed again.

The match, originally scheduled to be played at Tehran’s Azadi Stadium on October 13, 2023, will now be held at the Enghelab Stadium in Karaj, Iran, due to poor pitch conditions at Azadi Stadium.

The decision to change the venue was made after a recent inspection of the Azadi Stadium pitch revealed that it was not in a playable condition. The FFIRI worked with FIFA to find a suitable alternative venue, and Enghelab Stadium was selected due to its close proximity to Tehran and its availability on the match date.

Tickets that had already been purchased for the match at Azadi Stadium will remain valid for the match at Enghelab Stadium. The match will be played behind closed doors, as per FIFA’s regulations for World Cup qualifiers.

Iran is currently second in Group C of the FIFA World Cup 2022 qualifiers, with 12 points from six matches. Kyrgyzstan is fourth in the group, with four points from six matches.
